For the first time this Summer, Activate will present a one-off, Inside Out Dorset signature event in a bespoke performance area by the harbourside in Weymouth, over the weekend of the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival (8 & 9 July 2017).

It includes the outstanding Le Cirque Du Platzak who perform their wild circus extravaganza, Kermiz but we are also launching a very special set of interactive music installations Rock the Boat Street Guitars which will be situated around selected points within the seafood festival site.

Each of the installations is a reclaimed and upcycled wooden sailing dinghy, complete with a full-size acoustic guitar fixed inside. Passers-by are encouraged to stop and play a while. There’s even an integral seat so players can sit comfortably and entertain passing visitors at the seafood festival. The boats are free to use and we hope it will allow local talent to shine.

Although the boats are free and operate on a ‘turn-up-and-play’ basis, there’s going to be a curated boat stage, sited within the Inside Out festival site. We would love to hear from you if you would enjoy the opportunity to showcase your talents. As of 12th June, two performance slots remained available.

Drop dom@activateperformingarts.org.uk an email about yourself.

We would also like volunteers to steward these boats, informing the public about this unusual performance opportunity. We would love the volunteers themselves to play the guitars, sing, and encourage participation by the public.
